How I Prep the Kids’ Stuff for Christmas

Prepping your kids’ bedrooms and play spaces BEFORE all the new toys arrive is key to keeping things organized versus overflowing. Full transparency: My kids are only 1 and 3. So I totally get that some (a lot) of this I’m doing for them right now. But, I’m a big believer that the earlier you involve kids in the process, the easier it’ll be as they get older. It becomes something that’s expected. I’ll keep you posted on how that works out. ;)

Quick Tips to Get Started

  • Pull everything out from the closet, storage bins, cube sets, etc. You need to see it A-L-L. Yes, I’m serious.

  • Do an audit yourself first and then go through it all with your kids. That way you already have an idea of things that should go.

  • Now that you’ve freed up some space, you can start to plan storage solutions for the new toys coming in.

  • If you already have organization systems in place, take the time to refresh or reorder as needed to make room for the new stuff.

  • Quick tip: We love labeling storage bins with picture labels to help younger kids know where everything goes when playtime is over.
